FILTERS FOR SAND CONTROL

The mechanical methods of sand exclusion are the placement of filters that prevents or hinders the entry of sand from the formation into injection wells and in producing wells.

One of the systems used in the lower completion to restrict the movement of sand are perforated, grooved and screened.

These tubes with tears are called a sand control filter and are used in the direct filtration system, where the tear controls the sand granulometry, allowing only the flow of oil and very fine sand, retaining solids with granulometry higher than tears thickness.
